History of PAI
Since its establishment in 1978, PAI Consulting (PAI) has played an integral part in the aerospace industry through its work at the Department of Transportation, John A. Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (VNTSC), the Federal Aviation Administration, and various aerospace manufacturers and corporate flight operators. By employing pilots, analysts, lawyers, and editors with broad aerospace experience, PAI has remained a small business with the experience, abilities, and resources of a large company.
Working both nationally and internationally, PAI has supported regulatory development and analysis for foreign aviation authorities; systems analyses, evaluations, and audits for air carriers and corporate operators; safety analyses; technical writing and editing; and meeting support of government agencies. Recent work has involved supporting the Aviation Safety Information Analysis and Sharing (ASIAS) program, the Commercial Aviation Safety Team (CAST), the Joint Implementation Measurement Data Analysis Team (JIMDAT), and Aviation Safety InfoShare.
PAI has experienced many changes over its 45‑year history, including a change in ownership when the founders retired. From working entirely on paper and with typewriters, to using floppy discs and desktop computers, to laptops, virtual meetings, and using the cloud, PAI has met and excelled at each change. Having already begun the transition to virtual working, PAI was able to seamlessly go entirely virtual at the start of the COVID–19 pandemic while continuing to support the integrated safety teams we were a part of, therefore contributing significantly to the safety of aerospace worldwide during troubling times.
In 2024, PAI is developing PAI Academy, a world‑class digital training tool providing solutions to the changing safety management system (SMS) landscape in aviation and beyond.
As PAI looks toward the future, we are excited to expand the offerings of our talented employees and engage more with industry and other government agencies, guiding our clients through the many unknown challenges we have yet to face.
